Feta and Honey Savory Snacks

Feta and honey savory snacks are quick and delicious puff pastry treats, very tasty and savory puffs. I had some feta to consume and a roll of puff pastry about to expire, and I made these delightful mini rustic bites for an aperitif, which were literally devoured. Feta and honey savory snacks are perfect not only for aperitifs but also for a party, buffet, or as an appetizer. They are a cross between sweet and savory, the honey makes the filling more delicious, soft, and creamy, and it pairs perfectly with the Greek cheese. Try them, you won’t stop at just one!

Ingredients

  • 10.5 oz feta
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 egg
  • as needed honey
  • as needed black pepper

Steps

  • Feta and honey savory snacks are super easy and quick to prepare. First, cut the feta into strips about 0.4 inches wide.

  • Unroll the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 3 parts, vertically. Place the pieces of feta along the edge of each strip of puff pastry and put a little honey (I used wildflower honey) and black pepper on top.

  • Close the pastry, rolling it over itself, you will get 3 stuffed rolls. Brush the rolls with the beaten egg and then cut them into pieces about 0.8 inches wide.

  • Place the feta and honey savory snacks on a sheet of parchment paper (the one from the puff pastry is fine too) and bake them in a preheated oven at 392°F for 20 minutes.

Notes:

Feta and honey savory snacks can be stored at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for 2-3 days. Instead of black pepper, you can also use chili pepper or other spices to taste.
