The flatbread cones pizza-style with tomato, mozzarella, and cooked ham are a super quick, easy, and delicious recipe. I came up with this recipe for a get-together with friends; I had a pack of flatbread to use up, and one each wouldn’t have been enough, so I decided to prepare cones filled like a pizza. Crispy outside and with a tasty and super stringy filling, these flatbread cones are amazing, perfect for a party, a buffet, as an appetizer or main course, you can cook them both in the oven and in the air fryer. Make plenty because they will be a hit!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 6 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Oven, Electric oven, Air frying
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 14 oz tomato pulp
- 9 oz scamorza cheese
- 7 oz cooked ham (diced)
- 3 flatbreads
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
- to taste oregano
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
Steps
These flatbread cones are super easy and quick to prepare. First, take the flatbreads and cut them in half. Take one half and roll it onto itself to form a cone, then secure it with a toothpick.
Prepare all the other cones the same way and place them, upside down, on a baking sheet. Spray them with a little oil and bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for 10 minutes.
In the meantime, season the tomato pulp with oil, salt, black pepper, and oregano, then add the diced cooked ham and chopped mozzarella.
Remove the cones from the oven, remove the toothpicks, and fill all the flatbread cones with the prepared filling. Place them in a high-sided baking dish (I used a bundt pan, but a bowl or baking dish will work too), so they stand upright and the filling won’t spill during cooking.
Bake the filled flatbread cones for about ten minutes, just enough time to let them flavor and melt the cheese.
Tips:
The flatbread cones can be kept at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. You can obviously make the flatbreads at home, this is my fail-proof recipe. You can fill them with your preferred filling, you can use vegetables, cured meats, cheese, tuna, salmon, corn, olives, basically, let your imagination run wild!
