Mashed Potato Balls

in ,

The mashed potato balls are a clever recipe, super delicious, quick quick and very tasty. I had some bags of instant mashed potato mix (potato flakes) and didn’t feel like making the usual mash, so I thought of creating small savory spheres, potato pearls that are not fried but baked in the oven (but you can also fry them or cook them in an air fryer), crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Mashed potato balls are ready in 5 minutes and then into the oven, they are perfect as an appetizer and ideal as a snack for a happy hour, also great as a vegetarian main course, you can customize them by adding your favorite spices, try them now and make plenty, they are a hit 😀

  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan

  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste nutmeg

Steps

  • Mashed potato balls are super easy and quick to prepare, first put the instant mashed potato mix (potato flakes), cornstarch, grated Parmesan, salt, black pepper, nutmeg in a bowl and mix.

  • Add the milk and water at room temperature and mix well all the ingredients, you will get a fairly soft and compact mixture.

  • Take some mixture with your hands and form balls. Grease your hands with a little oil and oil all the mashed potato balls.

  • Place the mashed potato balls on a non-stick baking tray (or lined with parchment paper) and bake them in a preheated oven at 428°F for 15-20 minutes, they should be golden.

Notes:

Mashed potato balls can be stored at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. For a lactose-free version, you can replace milk with water. You can add your favorite spices such as paprika, rosemary, garlic powder, thyme, etc. You can also cook the mashed potato balls in the air fryer at 392°F for 15-17 minutes or fry them in hot seed oil. You cannot replace the instant mashed potato mix with fresh potatoes, the doses and procedure would be totally different, if you want to use fresh potatoes, follow this recipe.
