Nutella Cushions

Nutella cushions are quick and easy puff pastry treats to make. I wanted a quick and tasty treat to enjoy while watching Sanremo, so I grabbed a puff pastry roll, which is never missing at my house, and created these delicious sweets with only 3 ingredients. I named them this way because they look like small pillows and have a soft and creamy filling of hazelnut cream; they are irresistible. The hardest part of this recipe is resisting the temptation to eat them all 😀

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 16Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Oven, Electric oven, Air fryer
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Nutella
  • 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • as needed powdered sugar

Steps

  • Nutella cushions are very simple and quick to prepare. First, unroll the puff pastry and spread Nutella on only half of it (if it’s not creamy enough, heat it in the microwave or in a bain-marie for a few seconds).

  • Fold the free side of the pastry over the filling, seal the edges well, and fold them inward.

  • Pierce the pastry with a toothpick, brush with the beaten egg, and cut it into 4 parts vertically and another 4 horizontally, without separating it.

  • Bake the Nutella cushions in a preheated oven at 356°F (180°C) for 20/25 minutes until they are golden brown.

  • Garnish with powdered sugar and separate the sweets.

Tips:

Nutella cushions can be stored at room temperature for 5-6 days. If you don’t want to use the egg, brush the pastry with a little milk or a knob of melted butter.
