The pan-grilled breaded calamari is an easy, quick, and extremely tasty seafood main course, without using the oven. I had some calamari to cook, wanted to make them breaded and crusty, but didn’t feel like turning on the oven, so I decided to try them in a pan. What a delight! The pan-grilled breaded calamari are tender and crispy at the same time, perfect as a starter or main course, also ideal for a cocktail party, ready in just 10 minutes, you can use either fresh or frozen calamari!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 3 calamari
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 sprig parsley
- 1 lemon zest
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
Steps
The pan-grilled breaded calamari is super easy and quick to prepare, first place the breadcrumbs, cornmeal, chopped parsley, and garlic clove, black pepper in a bowl and mix.
Clean the calamari by removing the insides, eyes, central tooth, and skin, then cut them into rings.
Pour some oil into a pan, enough to almost cover the entire base, and add the calamari, let them brown for 5 minutes and salt them.
Add the breading and continue cooking for 3-4 minutes, finish the pan-grilled breaded calamari with a grating of lemon and let them season for another minute.
Notes:
The pan-grilled breaded calamari can be kept in the fridge for one day. If you don’t have cornmeal, use only breadcrumbs, but if you prefer, you can also use only cornmeal. For this recipe, you can use either fresh or frozen calamari, if you choose the latter, let them thaw completely before using.
