Pear fritters are a super easy, very quick and very simple recipe to prepare. I love sweet fritters, especially with fresh fruit; I’ve made many varieties and, today, here are the pear ones. I prepared them for a family dinner and they were snapped up — to make them more indulgent and tasty I served them with a chocolate sauce, and what can I say, you’ll be in heaven! Pear fritters are soft, fragrant, very tender and fruit-filled; you can make them in 5 minutes and they are without leavening. Make plenty because they literally fly off the plate — one after another!
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Budget-friendly
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Cooking time: 5 Minutes
- Portions: 75 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Frying
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 6 pears
- 2 eggs
- 1 lemon zest (zest of 1 lemon)
- 2 tsp baking powder
- to taste sugar and cinnamon (for coating)
Steps
Pear fritters are very simple and very quick to prepare; first, put the milk, eggs, sugar and the grated lemon zest in a bowl and mix.
Add the flour and the baking powder and form a smooth, lump-free batter. Add the peeled pears, cut into small pieces, and fold them into the batter.
Spoon a little batter with a teaspoon and let it fall into hot oil. Continue this way to make all the pear fritters and cook them over medium-low heat until golden brown — it will take about 5 minutes.
When cooked, drain the pear fritters on paper towels and roll them in sugar and cinnamon (if you don’t like cinnamon, simply omit it).
Tips:
Pear fritters can be kept at room temperature for a few hours or in the refrigerator for a couple of days. To bring them back to just-made condition, warm them in the oven or in an air fryer for a few minutes and add a little more sugar. I served them with a chocolate sauce, simply made by melting dark chocolate with a small splash of milk (about 1 tablespoon).
