The savory pie with speck is an easy and quick savory tart. I didn’t have many dinner ideas, also due to the half-empty fridge and pantry, so I took a roll of puff pastry that I always have at home, some ingredients to use up, and made this delicious savory pie. Crispy, rich, tasty, and filled with melted cheese, cherry tomatoes, and mozzarella, this savory pie with speck is truly delightful. You prepare it in 10 minutes and pop it in the oven — it’s a simple and tasty fridge-clearing and dinner-saving recipe!

Ingredients

  • 5 oz mozzarella
  • 4.2 oz speck
  • 3.5 oz fresh spreadable cheese
  • 6 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 1 egg
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • to taste oregano
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste sesame seeds

Steps

  • The savory pie with speck is very easy and quick to prepare. First, unroll the puff pastry and fill one half with a few slices of speck.

  • Spread a little spreadable cheese on top, add the mozzarella slices, sliced and salted cherry tomatoes, black pepper, oregano, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and the remaining slices of speck.

  • Close the savory pie by folding the free pastry over the filling, seal the edges, and fold them inwards. Brush the surface with the beaten egg, make small cuts with a knife, and add the sesame seeds.

  • Bake the savory pie with speck in a preheated oven at 392°F for 25/30 minutes until it is golden brown.

Tips:

The savory pie with speck can be kept at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. You can replace the cherry tomatoes with tomato sauce seasoned with oil, salt, pepper, and oregano. Instead of mozzarella, you can use any melting cheese you prefer.
