Savory Puff Pastry Loaves

in ,

The savory puff pastry loaves are delicious bundles of puff pastry with a rich, gooey and creamy filling. I had some puff pastry to use up and decided to make, with a single roll, 3 loaves filled with different flavors, a cute, tasty, and delicious idea for an appetizer (also for Easter and Easter Monday), for a buffet, a party, or an aperitif. Needless to say, they disappeared in an instant! The savory puff pastry loaves are delightful, and you can personalize them with the filling you prefer; I made one vegetarian with spinach, one with meat with salami, and one with fish with tuna and onion, they will be a hit!

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Cheap
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 3 Pieces
  • Cooking methods: Oven, Electric oven, Air-frying
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 5.3 oz scamorza cheese
  • 3.5 oz cream cheese
  • 1.8 oz salami
  • 1.8 oz tuna in oil
  • 1.8 oz spinach, cooked, boiled
  • 1 roll puff pastry
  • 1 tbsp Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • Half onion
  • to taste salt
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste oregano
  • to taste sesame seeds
  • to taste poppy seeds

Steps

  • The savory puff pastry loaves are super easy and quick to prepare, first unroll the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 3 equal parts, vertically.

  • Fill one piece with cream cheese, cooked spinach, grated Parmesan, a drizzle of oil, and diced scamorza cheese.

  • Season another piece with cream cheese, slices of salami, and scamorza cheese. In the third and last piece, put cream cheese, thinly sliced onions (use a slicer if you have one), salt, drained tuna (add a drizzle of oil if using natural tuna), and scamorza cheese.

  • Close the savory puff pastry loaves, seal the edges well, and fold them inward. Place the savory puff pastry loaves on a baking sheet (always keep the parchment paper underneath), brush them with beaten egg, and cut them without dividing them to make triangles.

  • Put poppy seeds on the spinach loaf, oregano on the salami one, sesame seeds on the tuna loaf, and bake the savory puff pastry loaves in a preheated oven at 392 degrees Fahrenheit (200 Celsius) for about 25 minutes, until golden on top.

Tips:

The savory puff pastry loaves can be stored at room temperature for a few hours or in the fridge for a couple of days. Of course, you can fill them with any filling you prefer.
