- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 oz walnut kernels
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 3/4 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 egg
- as needed powdered sugar
Steps
The walnut triangles are very simple and quick to prepare. First, put chopped walnut kernels, sugar, cocoa powder, and milk in a bowl and mix all the ingredients thoroughly.
Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into 3 equal strips (horizontally). Fill each strip with the prepared filling, leaving half a cm (.2 inches) free along the edges, and fold in half, sealing the closure with the tines of a fork.
Brush the surface of each filled strip with beaten egg and then cut it into triangles.
Place the walnut triangles on a baking tray and bake them in a preheated oven at 356 degrees Fahrenheit for 20/25 minutes, then garnish them with a dusting of powdered sugar.
Notes:
The walnut triangles can be stored at room temperature for 4/5 days. To make them even more delicious, you can add some cinnamon powder to both the filling and the powdered sugar. You can substitute milk with a plant-based milk (including almond milk).
