Carnival is just around the corner. And since it’s the time of year when we fry the most, I decided to make carnival fritters. This time, however, I wanted to use my masks. Aren’t they cute?? And especially deliciousssss The recipe is very easy to make. The dough is very simple. For convenience, I used a stand mixer, but if you prefer, you can knead them by hand. Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 0.35 oz fresh brewer's yeast
  • 3.5 tbsp lard
  • 4 cups Manitoba flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • zest of 1 orange
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 egg
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil
  • as needed granulated sugar

Steps

  • Pour all the ingredients into the stand mixer bowl except for the milk and yeast.

  • Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk and gradually add it to the dough.

  • Transfer the dough onto the work surface and form a ball.

  • Let it rise until it doubles in size.

  • It will take about 3 hours.

  • Gently roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut out the masks with the appropriate cutters.

  • Fry in hot oil.

  • About 3 minutes per side.

  • Finally, pass them in granulated sugar.
