Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp lard
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dried oregano
Tools
- Bowl
- Spatula
- Baking Pan
Steps
In a bowl, I poured the flour, sugar, oregano, and yeast and mixed with a fork.
Meanwhile, I dissolved the salt and tomato paste in the water.
I added the water to the flour and started mixing. Lastly, I added the lard, transferred everything onto the pastry board, and worked it until the dough was smooth and elastic and no longer stuck to my fingers.
I let it rise until doubled in size, in a warm place away from drafts.
When the dough had risen well, I rolled it out with the rolling pin and used two round cutters to make the donuts.
I let it rise for another hour, then fried in hot oil. I filled them with tomato sauce and pecorino.
