Homemade Seasoned Tomato Sauce, Thermomix Version

Making tomato sauce at home has never been so easy. Today I’m sharing with you the method I use to make tomato sauce at home. I use the Thermomix for convenience. And I must say that it saves me a lot of time and effort. When I was little and we made tomato sauce at home, it was a festive day. The whole family gathered, starting early in the morning and finishing in the evening. Good times. Now things have changed, we don’t make such a big stock anymore. I take the opportunity to make it when the garden tomatoes abound and I don’t know how to consume them anymore. Ingredients

  • 1 kg tomatoes (I use cherry tomatoes)
  • 1 onion
  • plenty of basil
  • as needed olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons fine salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Tools

  • Jars glass
  • Thermomix

Steps

  • Place the tomatoes in the Thermomix bowl, blend briefly, and add more if needed. Add onion and basil.

  • Blend for 1 minute at speed 10 and add oil, salt, and sugar.

  • Cook for 30 minutes at 212°F (100°C) speed 1 and then 10 minutes at Varoma temperature, speed 1.

  • Meanwhile, sterilize the glass jars in the microwave. (Simply wash them well with hot water, fill them halfway with water, and microwave for 10 minutes. The water inside the jars will start to boil, creating steam. Leave the jars in the microwave until using them. The lids should also be washed in hot water but not placed in the microwave with the jars).

  • Once the sauce is ready, remove the water from the jars and fill them with the sauce while still hot. Seal with the lids and let cool upside down.

It can be stored in the pantry for up to 1 year. Check that a vacuum has formed (when you press the center of the lid, it should NOT pop!).
