This year I couldn’t decide…
Carnival sweet or Valentine’s sweet?
So, I did what I always do in the kitchen: I combined the two things 😊
That’s how these heart-shaped fried doughnuts were born, soft as clouds. I made them in the afternoon, and let me tell you, they disappeared while still warm… my husband took “only two” at least four times 😄
If you want to make them too, I’ll explain everything step by step. They are very simple to prepare. For convenience, I used a stand mixer, but they can easily be made by hand.

Steps
In the bowl of the stand mixer, add all the ingredients except the milk and yeast.
Start working the dough at low speed, meanwhile dissolve the yeast in the milk and gradually add it to the dough.
Work until the dough detaches from the sides.
Form a ball and let it rise in a warm place for about 3 hours, it should double in volume.
Once risen, transfer the dough to the floured pastry board.
Roll it out with the rolling pin and make the doughnuts.
Let the doughnuts rest for an hour before frying.
Fry in hot oil for a few minutes on each side.
Roll them in granulated sugar and enjoy.
Fry them at a not too high temperature, otherwise they will color quickly on the outside and remain raw inside.
If you want, you can fill them with cream or Nutella… but even plain with sugar they are wonderful.
