For the holiday table this year, I’ve thought of a sourdough bread star. I’ll place it in the center of the table with other types of bread like Twisted Breadsticks and Bread Swirls. It will surely add a special touch to the table. The sourdough bread star is very simple to make. I used the recipe for my regular bread which I always use. Then I shaped it into a star. Or at least I tried. The step-by-step guide will also help you make it. And you will surely be better than me, as you know I’m a bit clumsy.

Ingredients
- 5.3 oz sourdough starter
- 1.7 cups water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 4.7 cups all-purpose flour (or half all-purpose and half semolina)
- 1 teaspoon honey
Tools
- Bowl
- Baking Sheet
- Scraper
Steps
Dissolve the sourdough starter in the water with the honey.
Add the flour and mix until it absorbs all the water. Let it rest for about 30 minutes.
Add the salt and knead until the dough absorbs all the salt. At this point, make 3 sets of folds, 15 minutes apart.
Just take the edge of the dough and bring it towards the center.
Finally, let it rise until doubled.
Transfer the dough to the work surface and shape it into a smooth ball. Place it on a baking sheet dusted with semolina.
Use a scraper to shape a star

Create a hole in the center and let rise for about 1 hour.
Adjust the star a bit and bake at 392°F for about 50 minutes.
