Caprese Crostini

Ingredients for Caprese Crostini

  • 4 slices white bread
  • 8 cherry tomatoes
  • 6 small mozzarella balls
  • to taste basil (fresh)
  • to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • to taste fine salt
  • to taste mixed peppercorns (freshly ground)

Steps to Prepare Caprese Crostini

  • Cut 4 slices of bread about 3/4 inch thick (a little trick: if the loaf is small like a baguette, cut the slices diagonally to have 4 large slices), heat the cast iron grill pan and when it’s hot, put the slices of bread in, cook for 2 minutes per side, and place them on the serving plate.

  • Wash, dry, and slice the cherry tomatoes into 3 parts, slice the small mozzarella balls into 4 slices, wash and dry the basil.

  • Arrange slices of cherry tomatoes and mozzarella on the toasted bread alternately, garnish with basil leaves, season with a pinch of salt, freshly ground pepper to taste, and a drizzle of oil.

  • Serve the caprese crostini as an appetizer or as finger food for an aperitif!
