- 4 teaspoons Raw cane sugar
- 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
- 1 g Ground ginger
- 6 tablespoons Water
Useful Tools
- Kitchen Scale
- Baking Tray
- Spoon
- Parchment Paper
- Small Bowl
- Knife
Preparation of Grandma’s Baked Apples
Wash the apples thoroughly under running water, then using a paper towel (or a clean cloth), dry them well without removing the stem or peel.
Using a kitchen knife, make a shallow cross-cut on the surface of the apples, about 1/16 inch deep.
Place the apples in a baking tray lined with parchment paper with the stem facing up.
In a small bowl, mix the cane sugar with cinnamon and ground ginger, and place a spoonful on top of each apple until the powdered mixture is finished.
Pour the water specified in the recipe into the bottom of the baking tray (this is grandma’s trick for perfect baking!).
Preheat the oven to 392°F and once hot, bake the apples for 50 minutes (always check the baking), once baked, take them out of the oven, serve them hot, warm, or cold, they are good in any way!
Before serving the baked apples, drizzle them with the juice left at the bottom of the tray, they will be even more delicious.
TIPS
If you want to make the classic baked apples even more delicious, you can add some raisins soaked in rum or chopped and toasted walnuts to the cane sugar. Instead of water, you can make a mixture with half water and half grappa (not for the kids though!).
If you want to keep the baked apples for a couple of days, you just need to store them in the fridge in an airtight container once they are cold.
