- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients for the donut with multipurpose base dough
- 4 Eggs (large size)
- 7 oz Butter
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3 3/4 cups All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 4 1/4 oz Chocolate chips (optional and replaceable)
- 6 tablespoons Water
- 1 packet Baking powder for desserts
- 1 Vanilla flavoring (in a vial, optional)
Tools
- 2 Bowls
- Spoon
- Kitchen scale
- Donut pan
- Saucepan
Preparation
Begin by melting the butter in a saucepan so it will be cool by the time you need to add it.
In a bowl, work the eggs with sugar, water, and vanilla flavoring, mix with a simple spoon for a few minutes, then add the cooled butter and mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, and baking powder and sift them before mixing to avoid any lumps.
Combine the dry mixture with the liquid mixture and stir until you have a homogeneous batter, if lumps form, use an immersion blender and they will disappear in an instant.
Flour and now add the chocolate chips (or whatever you want to add) and mix (a trick to prevent them from sinking).
Butter and flour a donut pan, pour the batter into it, level it, and bake in a preheated static oven at 430°F and bake for 40 minutes, always do the toothpick test to see if it’s time to remove it from the oven! Once cooked, remove from the oven, let it cool, then remove it from the pan and enjoy!
DONUT WITH MULTIPURPOSE BASE DOUGH, this dough can transform into any dessert, you can make muffins, loaf cakes, donuts, and whatever your imagination suggests!
Instead of chocolate chips, you can add an equal amount of: white or milk chocolate (in flakes or chips), nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts, pine nuts, almonds, raisins), fresh fruit (pears, apples, bananas, apricots, peaches), you can substitute the vanilla flavoring with a tablespoon of rum; if you don’t want to use cornstarch, you can use all flour, it will be less soft but equally good.
The donut made with this dough can be stored for 5/6 days (if it lasts that long!) covered with a paper bread bag, or alternatively, you can slice it and store it in the freezer.
If you make muffins with this dough, bake for 20/25 minutes (always checking the cooking).DONUT WITH MULTIPURPOSE BASE DOUGH
This dough ensures that the chocolate chips (or whatever you add in their place) do not sink during baking, it’s important that whatever you add is floured first!
