I should have published the Naan Bread with Greek Yogurt recipe a year ago, but for a variety of reasons, I had to postpone it. Today, however, I finally present this delicious and incredibly soft bread, typical of Indian cuisine. Trust me, it’s very easy to make and delicious! Even those less experienced with dough will succeed! You can fill it with sweet or savory ingredients, but personally, I love it more in a savory version; its enormous softness is something I adore! But enough talk, head to the kitchen and try the recipe!

Ingredients for Naan Bread with Greek Yogurt
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup Greek yogurt (plain)
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 tsp fine salt
- 1/4 tsp dry yeast
Useful Tools
- Kitchen scale
- Bowl
- Work surface
- Pan non-stick
- Tongs
- Rolling pin
Preparation of Naan Bread with Greek Yogurt
In a bowl, pour the ingredients in this sequence: first flour and yeast, and give a quick stir, then add Greek yogurt, water, and salt.
Start mixing with your hands (or with a spoon if you prefer). Once the dough has incorporated water and yogurt well, place it on the work surface and knead for about 10 minutes (don’t worry if it doesn’t become perfectly smooth, that’s normal!). Form a ball and place it in a bowl covered with plastic wrap to rise for about 3 hours (it won’t grow much, and that’s normal too!).
After 3 hours, take the dough, divide it into 4 equal parts, and fold each part a few times to shape it into a ball (at this point, the dough will become nice and smooth!). Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 40-45 minutes.
After resting, turn on the stove to a very high heat and heat the pan very well. Meanwhile, roll out each of the 4 balls with the rolling pin; do not roll them out too thin, but leave them about 1/8 inch thick.
When the pan is hot, place 1 naan bread at a time inside, wait about 1 minute, turn with the tongs, and cook on the other side for another minute (it’s well-cooked when it forms classic brown spots (similar to a flatbread) and puffs up slightly). Continue this way until all the dough is used. Voila, you’re done! Now your Naan Bread is ready to be enjoyed in all its soft goodness!
Tips
To serve this amazing Naan Bread with Greek yogurt, you can season it with a sauce made of oil, salt, and chopped parsley. If you like, you can also add minced garlic.
You can use it to accompany a good meat stew with potatoes.
You can use it like a flatbread, fill it with your favorite ingredients (vegetables, cold cuts, cheese, etc.), fold it, and heat it in the pan for 2 minutes!
You can store it in the freezer once it is cold, so you always have a nice supply available.
