Ingredients for Oven-Baked Breaded Cheese

  • 4.4 oz fresh cheese (like Linea or Primo Sale in a single piece)
  • 0.16 cups all-purpose flour (or low glycemic index flour)
  • 0.25 cups breadcrumbs (regular or whole wheat)
  • 1 teaspoon dried onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon chives (dried)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

Preparation of Oven-Baked Breaded Cheese

  • Beat the egg in a bowl for a few seconds and set aside.

  • In two separate bowls, place the flour in one and the breadcrumbs with salt, chives, onion, sweet paprika, and garlic in the other, and mix to combine.

  • Open the cheese package and drain the liquid inside (I used fresh, lactose-free light cheese). Coat it with flour on the top, bottom, and edges.

  • Then, dip the cheese in the beaten egg and then in the seasoned breadcrumbs (ensuring that the entire surface, including the edges, is covered). Repeat this process 2 more times to have a triple breading, and place the breaded cheese on a non-stick baking sheet or one lined with parchment paper.

  • Preheat the oven to 428°F (220°C), and when it’s hot, drizzle the cheese with some oil and bake it. Cook for 15 minutes, turning halfway through! If you love a melted center, serve it hot; otherwise, it is also excellent warm with a firmer center! Enjoy!

  • If you love chili, you can sprinkle some dried chili on top as soon as the oven-baked breaded cheese comes out of the oven!
