Pound Cake with Walnuts and Chocolate Chips

Pound cake with walnuts and chocolate chips, a truly delicious dessert! I made it for the whole family’s breakfast and snack; it’s soft, fragrant, and quick to prepare. With just a few ingredients, you’ll have breakfast (or a snack) ready for a few days, but if you have sweet-tooths in your family, it won’t last that long! Now let’s get in the kitchen with Moma (the nickname my friends gave me) to make this pound cake!

  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 1 pound cake
  • Cooking methods: Oven

Ingredients for the Pound Cake with Walnuts and Chocolate Chips

  • 4 eggs (large, XL size)
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 7/8 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 7 tbsps lactose-free butter (regular butter is also fine)
  • 3 1/3 oz water
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (shelled and toasted)
  • 1 packet instant baking powder (I used a vanilla-flavored one)

Useful Tools to Make the Pound Cake

  • Kitchen scale
  • Bowl
  • Spoon
  • Small pot to melt the butter
  • Pound cake pan
  • Parchment paper to line the pound cake pan

Preparation of the Pound Cake with Walnuts and Chocolate Chips

  • First, melt the butter and let it cool a bit.

  • In a bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar and water for a few minutes.

  • Add the melted butter, continuing to mix until you get a velvety mixture.

  • Now add the sifted flour (save 1 tablespoon to flour the chocolate chips and walnuts) and the sifted baking powder, and mix until you get a thick, lump-free batter (you’ll only need to mix for about 10 minutes).

  • Flour the chocolate chips and walnuts (previously toasted) and add them to the prepared batter, mixing from bottom to top until well combined.

  • Take a piece of parchment paper large enough to line the pan, wet it, and squeeze it (a trick to make it adhere well to the pan) and line the pan, pour in the batter leveling the surface with a spoon.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 480°F and bake for 45/50 minutes, always do the toothpick test and check after the first 35 minutes because each oven is different from the other (I use a static oven).

  • Once cooked, let the pound cake cool, and when it’s cold, unmold, slice, and enjoy!
