Ingredients for the salted caramel cake

  • 2 eggs (XL size)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3.5 oz salted caramel cubes
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3.5 oz butter
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • as needed butter and flour (for the baking pan)
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (for the caramel)

Preparation of the salted caramel cake

  • Start by melting the butter in a saucepan, once melted set it aside to cool.

  • In a bowl, pour the eggs, water, and sugar and mix with the spoon for a few minutes.

  • Now add the (now cold) butter and stir quickly until you get a homogeneous mixture.

  • In another bowl, mix and sift together flour and baking powder.

  • Add the flour (previously mixed with baking powder) to the bowl with the liquid mixture and stir from bottom to top quickly until you get a smooth mixture without lumps.

  • In the bowl where the flour and baking powder were, pour the salted caramel cubes with 1 tablespoon of flour, mix until they are all floured (you can set aside 1 tablespoon of caramel cubes to decorate before serving).

  • Add the floured salted caramel cubes to the cake batter, mix until well combined.

  • Butter and flour the mold, pour in the batter, level it with a spoon, and bake in a preheated oven at 392°F.

  • Bake for 30 minutes, always doing the toothpick test towards the end of cooking, once baked leave the cake to cool in the off and open oven.

  • Once the salted caramel cake is well cooled, unmold it onto a plate and bring to the table to enjoy!
