Ingredients for the savory pie with stracchino cheese and pears

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (round)
  • 6.3 oz stracchino cheese
  • 3 Williams pears
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.8 oz pecan nuts (more flavorful than regular walnuts)
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • to taste mixed peppercorns (generously ground fresh)

Preparation of savory pie with stracchino cheese and pears

  • Pour the stracchino cheese, oil, milk, salt, and pepper (generously) into a bowl, mix well with a spoon until you get a smooth and very soft mixture.

  • Unroll the puff pastry and lay it in the tart pan, using a pastry wheel, remove 0.4 inches from the border and set aside for later, prick the bottom with a fork.

  • Pour the stracchino mixture inside and smooth it out well with the back of a spoon.

  • Wash and dry the pears well, slice them into thin slices removing the waste parts, lay the pear slices on top of the stracchino, and sprinkle with pecans.

  • Use the border removed earlier to form the tart strips, then close the border by folding it over itself.

  • Preheat the oven to 428°F and once it reaches the temperature, bake the savory pie, bake for 30 minutes (check towards the end of cooking because every oven is different), at the end of cooking the savory pie with stracchino and pears should be nicely golden.

  • Once cooked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly, transfer it to a serving plate and serve!
