The fried dough balls are a tasty and easy idea to prepare, typical of Neapolitan cuisine, a street food so simple yet equally delicious!
There are different versions of fried dough balls, for example they can be enriched with salami, seaweed, zucchini flowers, etc. The one I am about to show you is the basic recipe with which I assure you, you will prepare puffed and soft dough balls!

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 0.85 cup water
- 1 tsp dry yeast
- 1 tsp sugar
- salt
- peanut oil

Preparation of fried dough balls
Mix the flour with the dry yeast and sugar
Add lukewarm water slowly and stir with a fork, and only at the end, add the salt
Continue stirring until you obtain a homogeneous and sticky mixture
Cover the bowl with cling film and let it rise in the turned-off oven for about 2 hours, until it doubles in volume
Heat the peanut oil in the saucepan with high edges. Moisten the teaspoon with some oil, scoop the dough and let it slide into the hot oil. Cook the dough balls until they are puffed and golden
