Mashed potatoes are a side dish that goes with any type of main course, although I particularly enjoy it with meat-based dishes. It is an easy recipe to make using just a few ingredients: potatoes, milk, butter, and Parmesan. I am, of course, talking about the classic mashed potato recipe, because, like all recipes, there are variations; for example, it can be made with cream or baked in the oven, etc…

Preparation of MASHED POTATOES
Wash the potatoes, place them in a pot, cover them with plenty of cold water (1) and cook for 30 – 40 minutes from boiling; obviously, the cooking time depends on the size of the potatoes. To ensure the right degree of cooking, you can poke them with a fork or a skewer. Drain the boiled potatoes (2) and let them cool for a few minutes, then peel them (3).
Using the potato ricer, mash the potatoes while they are still hot and let them fall into a saucepan (4). I used a pan. Place the saucepan on the stove and add the milk (5) that you have previously heated. Add a pinch of salt and a few dashes of nutmeg (6).
Cook on low heat, stirring until the milk is completely absorbed (7). It will only take a few moments. At this point, add the butter (8) and Parmesan (9) and continue to stir until the butter is melted. Remove from heat.
Your mashed potatoes are ready to be served.
