Apple, Bacon, and Cheese Rolls

Apple, bacon, and cheese rolls are delicious crunchy snacks with a tasty and flavorful filling. Excellent with an aperitif or as an appetizer, they are prepared in a few steps. The rolls can be stuffed in many different ways: here we have spicy provolone, which I love, bacon, and thin apple slices. I guarantee that the apple, bacon, and cheese rolls are fabulous!

  • Cooking methods: Oven, Electric Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 8 sheets phyllo dough
  • 1 apple
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 4.2 oz spicy provolone
  • 1 egg (for brushing)

Tools

  • 1 Pan
  • 1 Cutting Board
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Reusable Baking Paper Sheet
  • 1 Kitchen Brush

Steps

  • In a non-stick pan, brown the bacon slices without adding any seasoning. Cut the spicy provolone into sticks about 1.5 inches long and the apples into thin wedges. Brush a sheet of phyllo dough with water and place another sheet on top, making them adhere. Cut them into three equal parts starting from the long side. At the base of the strip, keeping a distance of a couple of inches from the edge, start filling with cheese, place the bacon on top, and finally the apple. Fold the side edges of the dough towards the center and the two inches left at the base over the filling then roll the roll-up all the way. Proceed the same way with all others. Arrange them on a tray covered with the appropriate reusable mat, brush the rolls with the beaten egg and bake them in a preheated oven at 355 °F for ten minutes. The rolls should be served hot so the cheese remains soft.
