Protein Breadsticks with Chickpea Flour and Rosemary

The protein products are perhaps the real trend of the moment in the food field.

Supermarkets are overflowing with these kinds of products, from drinks to pasta, passing through cookies and various snacks, now everything is in the name of “low-carb“.

But what if we made some of these products at home using a few simple ingredients? Just like these protein breadsticks with chickpea flour and rosemary.

They are really prepared in a few simple steps, with very few ingredients such as chickpea flour, water, oil, salt and rosemary, and above all, they are very quick to prepare because, being yeast-free, they require no rising or resting time.

From the moment you decide to prepare them to the moment you take them out of the oven, it will only take about 20 minutes, trust me.

Now take a minute to read the recipe and then… let’s cook and eat!

  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients for 15 breadsticks

  • 1 1/4 cups chickpea flour
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp fine salt
  • 1 tsp rosemary (ground)

Tools

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Fork
  • 1 Work surface
  • 1 Metal dough scraper
  • 1 Baking tray
  • 1 Parchment paper
  • 1 Kitchen scale
  • 1 Cooling rack

Steps

  • To prepare the protein breadsticks with chickpea flour and rosemary, start by gathering the flour into a bowl, make a well in the center, and add the water, oil, salt, and ground rosemary.

Start mixing in the bowl with a fork, then when the dough has formed, transfer it to a work surface and knead by hand until you have a smooth and even dough.

With a dough scraper, cut pieces of 15 g each and roll them on the work surface, extending them to form sticks about 8 inches long.

  • As they are ready, transfer the breadsticks to a baking tray lined with parchment paper and brush them with a little extra virgin olive oil.

Bake your protein breadsticks in a preheated fan oven at 400°F for 15-17 minutes.

Once out of the oven, let them cool completely on a cooling rack before consuming 😉.
