Do you know why I always have a roll of puff pastry in the fridge? Because it’s very practical and versatile, and it comes to the rescue every time I have the urge or need to prepare something good in a short time, whether savory or sweet, just like these puff pastry swirls with strawberry jam.

These treats are prepared in a flash and are super tasty with their flaky texture, the sweetness of strawberry jam, and the crunchiness of the sliced almonds on top. They are perfect to accompany a good tea but are also delicious on their own.

  • 1 roll puff pastry
  • 3/4 cup strawberry jam
  • 1 egg (for the surface)
  • as needed sliced almonds (for the surface)

Tools

  • 1 Pastry Wheel pasta cutter
  • 1 Baking Sheet
  • 1 Brush silicone
  • 1 Cooling Rack
  • 1 Sugar Shaker

Steps

  • Preparing the puff pastry swirls with strawberry jam is very simple but above all very quick.

  • First, unroll the puff pastry and fill half of it with strawberry jam, then fold the pastry on itself and cut it into strips about 0.8 inches wide (you should get 10).

  • Take each strip of filled puff pastry, twist it on itself, and close it to form a swirl. Place the puff pastry swirls thus obtained on a baking sheet and brush the surface with the beaten egg.

  • Place a few almond slices on each swirl and then into the oven.
    Bake the puff pastry swirls with strawberry jam in a preheated static oven at 375°F for 15-20 minutes (depending on the oven) or until the surface is golden brown.
    Once baked, let them cool for a few minutes on a cooling rack, then dust them with powdered sugar and serve them 😉.
