This savory broccoli and sausage pie is one of those rustic pies that can turn your dinner around in just a few simple steps, and it is absolutely delicious.
During the winter months, when broccoli is abundant, I often make it to enrich the menu when I have friends over for dinner, but also when I simply need to prepare dinner in advance so that it’s ready when we get home from the various sports and other activities the girls have.
Using ready-made puff pastry makes the entire preparation even faster, so for the filling, you just need to boil the broccoli and sauté it in a pan with crumbled sausage, adding some smoked scamorza cheese for an extra twist to the whole recipe.
Once everything is assembled, it’s off to the oven!
Now take a minute to read the recipe and then… let’s cook and eat!!

Steps
Preparing this savory broccoli and sausage pie is simple and relatively quick.
Wash and separate the Sicilian broccoli into florets, then cook them for 10 minutes in salted boiling water.
Meanwhile, crumble the sausage and sauté it in a pan with a clove of garlic and a little fresh chili pepper.
Once the broccoli is cooked, remove it with a slotted spoon, transfer it to the pan, and let it sauté for a few minutes together with the sausage.
Turn off the heat and set aside the filling.
While the filling cools, dice the scamorza cheese, then unroll the puff pastry and, using the same parchment paper it is wrapped in, place it inside the baking pan or dish. Prick the base to prevent it from puffing during baking and fill it with the sautéed sausage and broccoli filling.
Add the diced scamorza cheese, fold the edges, and brush them with a little beaten egg.
Finally, bake your savory broccoli and sausage pie in a preheated static oven at 355°F for 35-40 minutes.
Once out of the oven, let it cool slightly before slicing and eating it 😉.
