Potatoes, as you know, are delicious in any way they are cooked, but since I discovered the recipe for smashed potatoes (or crushed potatoes), I make them very often not only as a side dish but also as a snack to accompany a beer or an aperitif with friends.
For this preparation, I always choose new potatoes because they are smaller and thus faster to cook, cuter to present, and especially more crispy.
To prepare smashed potatoes, just boil the potatoes without peeling them, smash them with the bottom of a glass, and then season them with extra virgin olive oil flavored with herbs and spices to taste. This recipe doesn’t require precise doses, you can go with your “intuition.” I cooked them in an air fryer, achieving an excellent result, but they can also be cooked in a conventional oven.
Now take a minute to read the recipe step by step and then… let’s cook and eat!!

Steps
To prepare smashed potatoes, start by thoroughly washing the potatoes because, for this recipe, we will also use the skins which will give the preparation its crunchy touch.
Cook the potatoes, choosing preferably all of the same size, in salted boiling water.
Drain them when you can pierce them with a toothpick, it will take about 15 to 20 minutes.
While the potatoes are cooking, prepare the seasoning.
In a bowl, collect the oil and season it with a mix of dried herbs (I used a mix made for potatoes) and sweet paprika to taste.
Mix with a fork to blend everything.
When the potatoes are ready, drain them, then, with the bottom of a glass, smash them being careful not to completely mash them.
Transfer them to the air fryer basket, drizzle with flavored oil, and finally salt.
Cook the smashed potatoes in the air fryer at 392°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking.
