  • 1.6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 2 apples
  • 1.8 oz walnuts

How to make the apple and dried fruit cake

  • Let’s start preparing the apple and dried fruit cake. Use a nutcracker to shell the walnuts, set aside the most intact ones for the final decoration, and break the others coarsely. Also chop the hazelnuts and almonds.

  • Peel the apples, remove the core, chop one into pieces, and slice the other. Melt the butter in the microwave or in a pan and let it cool. In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar with an electric mixer.

  • Add the melted butter, milk, salt, and grated lemon zest, then add the flour and sifted baking powder, the apple chunks, and the dried fruit. Mix with a fork or spatula.

  • Preheat the static oven to 356°F (180°C), butter the cake pan, flour it, and remove the excess flour. Pour the batter into the cake pan and level it, adding the apple slices and walnut halves.

  • When the oven is hot, bake and cook for 45 minutes. Before removing it from the oven, check the cooking with a wooden skewer, and if necessary, continue cooking for a few more minutes.

  • When the apple and dried fruit cake is ready, remove it from the oven and let it cool.
