Chocolate liqueur is a delicious homemade dark chocolate liqueur, perfect to serve with coffee or as an after-dinner drink. The homemade chocolate liqueur is thick and creamy. With this recipe, you’ll make 1.5 liters. It’s a perfect gift for friends or family and can be stored for a long time, but to savor it best, serve it chilled from the refrigerator or fresh from the freezer. If you plan to gift it, once the liqueur is ready, you can pour it into 250 ml or 500 ml bottles. Don’t miss my collection of homemade liqueurs. I’m sure you’ll find some other recipes to try. Ingredients
- 12.3 oz dark chocolate
- 3.2 cups water
- 1.1 lbs sugar
- 1.8 oz unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2.1 cups pure alcohol
How to prepare the Chocolate Liqueur
Start preparing the chocolate liqueur by chopping the dark chocolate and melting it in a bain-marie or microwave, then set it aside.
Pour the sugar and water into a pot, bring to a boil, then remove from heat and add the unsweetened cocoa powder that you have previously sifted, or you can sift it directly into the pot. Add the melted dark chocolate and mix well so that the cocoa dissolves, and let it cool completely.
When the syrup is completely cold, add the pure alcohol and use an immersion blender to thoroughly incorporate all the ingredients to obtain a cream.
Pour into bottles and let rest in the refrigerator for at least one week.
How to store the Chocolate Liqueur
Keep it in the refrigerator or freezer to enjoy it cold. It can be stored in the pantry for several months.
