How to prepare Crumb Cake in an air fryer
Let’s start preparing the shortcrust pastry for the Crumb Cake in Air Fryer, sift the powdered sugar and flour directly into the bowl, add the cold butter from the refrigerator cut into pieces, and work until you get a sandy mixture.
Add a pinch of salt and vanilla, add the egg and work everything first with a fork and then knead with your hands until you get the classic shortcrust pastry, compact and shiny.
Transfer the shortcrust pastry between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out with a rolling pin to a thickness of about 1/8 inch, then transfer it to the refrigerator and let it rest for 30 minutes. After resting, take it and place it on the perforated tart pan, make it adhere well to the base and edges and remove the excess pastry, set it aside as it will be used for the crumbs to cover the Nutella.
Pour the Nutella on the base and spread it well, make a nice layer about 1/8 inch thick. Now take the leftover shortcrust pastry and form crumbs that you will place over the Nutella until the cake is completely covered, then let it rest in the freezer for 30 minutes. The rest in the freezer will help keep the Nutella soft and creamy and prevent it from drying out during cooking.
After resting in the freezer, take the crumb cake, place it in the air fryer basket, and cook at 320°F for 20 minutes.
Once cooking is complete, remove the basket and check the cooking; the time may vary depending on the type of air fryer you use. If necessary, you can continue cooking at 356°F for another 4/5 minutes.
Remove the chocolate crumb cake tray from the air fryer basket, let it cool, remove it from the mold, and cut it into slices.
