Gnocchi with potato flakes a simple dish to make, which you can then season as you prefer, with the classic meat sauce or in many different ways, in this collection you will find many ideas for SAUCES FOR GNOCCHI. The gnocchi made with mashed potato flakes is a perfect recipe to try if you have some bags of mashed potatoes in the pantry nearing expiration and want some ideas to use them differently. Of course, homemade POTATO GNOCCHI are better, but these are great if you crave gnocchi and don’t have potatoes at home. Many times you have asked me if I had recipes with dehydrated potato flakes because perhaps there were some leftover bags of potato flakes in the pantry and you were looking for a different use than the usual mashed potatoes. With one bag of potato flakes, you will prepare gnocchi for 2 people, obviously, you just have to double the doses and use 2 bags for 4 servings, triple the doses, and use all 3 bags in the package to have gnocchi for 6 people. Now let’s see how to make gnocchi with potato flakes and if you try them let me know. Barbara

How to prepare gnocchi with potato flakes
Let’s start preparing the Gnocchi with potato flakes, pour the potato flakes into the bowl,
add the hot water
and mix to get a compact mixture.
Add some salt,
the egg, and mix so that the egg incorporates into the potato flakes,
add a pinch of nutmeg
and flour.
knead first with a fork and then with your hands to obtain a homogeneous, compact, and smooth dough.
Dust the work surface with flour and transfer the dough, divide it into several parts,
from each part, make ropes about the thickness of a finger,
then cut into small pieces
and pass them on the specific tool to create grooves, or roll them on the tines of a fork or the back of a grater.
Pour water into a pot, bring it to a boil and add salt, add the gnocchi
and when they rise to the surface, they are cooked, scoop them out with a slotted spoon and put them in a bowl,
add a dash of oil so they don’t stick to each other and season as you prefer.
How to store gnocchi with potato flakes
Once cooked, you can store them in the fridge for 2/3 days. If you wish, you can freeze them uncooked by arranging them on a tray spaced apart, place them in the freezer for 24 hours, and once frozen, you can put them in a bag so they don’t stick together.
