Licorice Liqueur is a very digestive liqueur, perfect as an after-dinner drink. Great to gift to friends and relatives, not only for the Christmas holidays but also to bring instead of the usual bottle of wine when invited to friends’ or relatives’ homes. It’s very easy to make and you’ll see that you won’t buy it anymore, but you’ll make it at home yourself. Be sure to use high-quality licorice, with this dose you get 1.5 liters of licorice liqueur. Check out my collection of recipes to make homemade liqueurs. Now let’s see how to make homemade licorice liqueur and if you try it, let me know. Barbara

Ingredients to prepare Licorice Liqueur
- 4 1/4 cups Water
- 2.8 oz Pure licorice
- 3 3/4 cups Sugar
- 2 1/8 cups pure alcohol
How to prepare Licorice Liqueur
Let’s start preparing the Licorice Liqueur, put the licorice in a blender and grind it to powder, or place it in a bag and hit it with a hammer or meat tenderizer.
Pour the water into a pot and add the sugar, let it dissolve and add the licorice powder, and mix well to make the mixture homogeneous and until the licorice is completely dissolved; be patient, it may take 20/30 minutes, depending on the type and size of the licorice, obviously the smaller it is, the less time it will take.
Remove from heat and let it cool completely, better if left to rest for 12/24 hours. Add the alcohol and mix well to obtain a homogeneous liquid.
Pour the licorice liqueur into a bottle, seal it, store it in a dark place, and let it rest for at least a week.
Serve it very cold, so I recommend storing it in the refrigerator or freezer.
How to store Licorice Liqueur
Store it in the pantry for a few months, serve cold, so I recommend keeping it in the refrigerator or freezer.
