Ingredients for making the orange cake

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 orange (untreated)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup sunflower oil
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (or 1 packet of vanillin)
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • as needed powdered sugar

How to prepare the Soft and Quick Orange Cake

  • Let’s start preparing the orange cake by washing the orange very well, drying it, grating the peel, and setting it aside. Make sure to only grate the orange part, as the white part is bitter and can affect the cake’s success. Then cut the orange in half, squeeze it, and extract the juice. 

  •  

    Pour the eggs and sugar into a bowl and whisk with an electric mixer until you get a light and fluffy mixture. Add the sunflower oil, milk, orange juice, and peel, a pinch of salt, and a teaspoon of vanilla essence. Continue mixing to incorporate the remaining ingredients well.

  • Now pour in the dry ingredients, the baking powder, and the flour, in 3 batches, and keep mixing with the beaters.

  • Butter and flour the pan and pour the batter. Preheat the static oven to 350°F. When it’s hot, bake and let cook for 30 minutes, then cover with aluminum foil and bake for another 10 minutes. Before taking it out of the oven, do the toothpick test, as the cooking time may vary depending on the type of oven.

  • When the orange cake is ready, take it out of the oven, let it cool, and then sprinkle it with some powdered sugar.
