PUFF PASTRY TWISTS WITH TUNA

Puff pastry twists with tuna are easy to make and very tasty, perfect to serve as an appetizer, to accompany a drink, to serve at a buffet, or as a snack throughout the day. As you surely know, puff pastry is best consumed the same day because the next day it becomes soft and chewy, so I recommend not preparing the puff pastry breadsticks the day before. I recommend also trying the Puff Pastry Breadsticks with Spicy Oil, the PUFF PASTRY SWIRLS WITH MORTADELLA AND PISTACHIOS, the PUFF PASTRY BASKETS FILLED WITH MUSHROOMS, the SAVORY PUFF PASTRY PALMIERS, PUFF PASTRY SWIRLS WITH HAM AND CHEESE.

Ingredients to prepare Puff Pastry Twists with Tuna

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (rectangular)
  • 3.5 oz tuna in oil
  • 1/3 cup cream cheese
  • 16 green olives (pitted)

Steps to prepare Puff Pastry Twists with Tuna

  • Let’s start preparing the Puff Pastry Twists with Tuna by removing the oil from the tuna and placing the tuna in a bowl or small plate, breaking it up well with a fork, and removing any pits from the olives.

  • Unroll the rectangular puff pastry and keep the shorter side facing you. Spread the cream cheese on half of the puff pastry, and add the tuna, trying to distribute it evenly over the cheese.

  • Fold the puff pastry and press well to adhere. With a sharp knife, cut into strips about 1/2 inch wide; I made 8 strips.

  • Preheat a convection oven to 355°F. Twist each strip and place it on parchment paper one by one.

  • Take the pitted olives and place them at the ends of each puff pastry twist, pressing slightly so they don’t fall off during baking when the puff pastry puffs up.

  • When the oven is hot, bake and cook for 15 minutes. Once the Puff Pastry Twists with Tuna are cooked, remove them from the oven, let them cool slightly, and then serve.

To maintain their crispiness, puff pastry breadsticks should be consumed the same day.
