Savory pie with asparagus and tuna is a delicious puff pastry roll with a tasty filling of asparagus, tuna, and mozzarella. The Savory pie with asparagus without ricotta is perfect as a meal alternative or you can serve it at a buffet or take it for a day trip, a picnic, or to the office for your lunch break since it’s also very good eaten at room temperature. To prepare the savory pie with asparagus, I used white asparagus which is commonly used here in Veneto, but you can also use green asparagus, and if it’s not the asparagus season, you can even use frozen or jarred asparagus. I recommend checking out RECIPES WITH ASPARAGUS and all my other savory pies for more delicious recipes to try. How to prepare the Savory Pie with Asparagus and Tuna
Let’s start preparing the savory pie with asparagus and tuna. First, boil the asparagus and let them cool. Cut the mozzarella into pieces and drain the tuna from its oil.
Unroll the puff pastry, place the longer side in front of you, and place the tuna in the center.
On top of the tuna, add the cheese cubes.
Finally, add the previously boiled asparagus.
Make incisions on both sides of the puff pastry with a sharp knife, creating 0.4-inch strips, leaving the central part with the filling untapped.
Close the top and bottom parts to create borders to contain the filling.
Braid the strips to close and seal the savory pie.
Brush the roll with some water
and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Preheat the static oven to 356°F and when it’s hot, bake and cook for 20/25 minutes. The cooking time may vary depending on the oven type, so check the puff pastry. It should be golden and well puffed.
When the savory pie with asparagus and tuna is ready, take it out of the oven and serve it hot or at room temperature.
