How to make the savory tart with peppers and tuna

  • Let’s start preparing the Savory tart with peppers, tuna and onion. Wash the peppers and cook them in the air fryer, or alternatively in the oven or on the grill. Once cooked, remove the seeds and skin and then cut them into slices.

  • Peel the onion and slice it very thinly, preferably with a mandoline so the slices are all the same thickness; this way they will cook evenly.

  • Slice or cut the scamorza into thin slices or small pieces; alternatively you can use pizza mozzarella, which doesn’t release water while cooking. Drain the tuna from the oil.

  • Unroll the rectangular puff pastry and place the chopped onion, the smoked scamorza, the tuna and the peppers in the center.

  • With a knife, cut strips to close the top and bottom sections, bringing them toward the center to seal the tart and prevent the filling from leaking during baking. On the lateral parts of the puff pastry, cut strips about 3/8 inch thick, leaving the central part where the filling is placed uncut.

  • Weave the strips over the filling to close and seal it, moisten the surface with a little water and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated conventional oven at 356°F for 20/30 minutes. The time may vary depending on the type of oven you use.

  • Once it’s cooked, remove it from the oven and serve warm or at room temperature.
