❄️ Storage Tips and Variations

Storage Tips

Once baked, the muffins are perfect to enjoy right away, but if you have some left, storing them is very easy.

For short-term storage, you can keep them at room temperature in an airtight container for about one or two days.

For longer storage, put them in the refrigerator, where they will stay fresh for up to four days.

The great thing is that you can also freeze them!

Just wrap the individual cooled muffins in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer bag; they will keep for about a month.

Flavor Variations:

The basic recipe is exceptional, but you can make it even more your own with these simple variations:

Flavor Twists:

For an exotic touch, add a pinch of ground ginger or freshly grated ginger to the batter.

If you prefer a fresher aroma, the grated zest of half a lemon is a great addition.

Crunchy Variations:

For a more interesting texture, try sprinkling the batter, before baking, with some sliced almonds or chopped walnuts.

This will give a pleasant crunchy note on the surface.

Tasty Topping:

Before baking, you can also add a drop of maple syrup on the raw batter for a slight caramelized effect.

❓ FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these muffins really flourless?

    Yes, they are completely Flourless!
The batter is made only with blended apples, eggs, and Greek yogurt.
The dense texture of the apple and the binding action of the egg and yogurt perfectly replace the flour, making them suitable even for a gluten-free or low-carb diet.

  • Can I use a traditional oven instead of an air fryer?

    Certainly!
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake them in a traditional oven.
Preheat the oven to 356°F (static mode) and bake the muffins for about 20-25 minutes.
Check for doneness with a toothpick.
The air fryer is just a faster and more energy-efficient option.

  • Can eggs be replaced?

Eggs have an essential binding function in this recipe since there is no flour.
Replacing them completely is very difficult without radically altering the texture.
If seeking a vegan version, you can try with a “ground flaxseed + water” mix (or “chia seeds”) as a substitute, but the result will be a baked pudding and will not have the same fluffy texture.

  • Can I use another type of yogurt?

    Greek yogurt is strongly recommended.
Being thicker and less watery, it helps give structure to the batter.
If you use regular yogurt, you might need to slightly increase the cooking time or accept a final texture that is more moist and pudding-like.

  • Do I absolutely have to peel the apples?

It is recommended to peel the apples.
Although the skin is nutritious, in a blended recipe like this, the skin does not completely blend and can leave small pieces or fibers that spoil the perfectly smooth and velvety texture of the muffin.
