Ingredients

  • 1 bunch basil
  • 1 lemon (Organic)
  • 2.8 oz peeled almonds (Toasted)
  • 1.8 oz Parmigiano Reggiano DOP
  • to taste lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 pinch fine salt
  • 1 to taste extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 14.1 oz spaghetti
  • 9.9 oz pesto (Lemon)
  • 1 tsp Spirulina

Tools

  • 1 Immersion Blender
  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Bowl

Steps

  • To start the spaghetti with lemon and spirulina pesto, first of all, we will make the lemon pesto, which is nothing more than a simple basil pesto flavored with lemon juice and some lemon zest.

Here is the step-by-step recipe for how I prepared the lemon pesto!

  • Since in this recipe the only ingredient that needs cooking is the pasta, before we start making the lemon pesto, we’ll put the pasta water on to boil because it will all be done in less than 15 minutes.

  • So, after boiling the pasta in plenty of salted boiling water, we move away from the stove and drain it directly into a large enough glass bowl where we will add the lemon pesto.

  • Then stir vigorously with a ladle until all the pasta is covered with lemon pesto or toss it directly in the bowl until well creamy and amalgamated.

  • Finally, after plating, add more lemon pesto on the spaghetti and, if desired, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.

  • Lastly, before serving the pasta, add a sprinkle of spirulina powder and a few whole toasted almonds to decorate the dish.

The spaghetti with lemon and spirulina pesto is ready.

    Bon appétit from DadCook!
