Ingredients for Spinach Pizza Wreath
- 1 package pizza dough
- 10.58 oz spinach, frozen
- 8 slices smoked scamorza cheese
- 8 slices cooked ham
- 1 shallot
- 3 pinches salt
- 3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
Preparation of Spinach Pizza Wreath
Cook the spinach in a pot with a little boiling salted water for 5 minutes. Drain them well and chop coarsely.
In a pan, brown the shallot with the extra virgin olive oil and add the spinach. Salt and stew over high heat for 5 minutes. Then, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Roll out the pizza base on the work surface and cut it into 8 rectangles.
Place a slice of cooked ham, a slice of smoked scamorza cheese, and spinach on each of them.
Now roll the rectangles and cut them in half to obtain 16 pieces.
Place them in a cake pan lined with parchment paper: form a larger crown with 14 pieces and place the remaining 4 pieces in the center.
Brush the surface of the dough with a drizzle of oil and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 15-20 minutes.
Serve the pizza crown either hot or warm.

FAQ
Can I use other ingredients for the filling?
The pizza wreath is very versatile. Besides spinach, you can use grilled vegetables, mushrooms, different cold cuts like speck or salami, or replace the scamorza with mozzarella, gorgonzola or aged cheeses.
Do I need a specific mold for the wreath shape?
Not necessarily. You can arrange the pizza rolls on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper, creating a circle with an empty center. If you want a more precise shape, you can use a ring mold or a fluted tart pan.
What is the ideal size for a wreath?
It depends on the number of guests. With a packaged pizza base, you can make a wreath sufficient for 6-8 people. If you need a larger portion, you can double the amount of ingredients and use a larger tray.
Is it also suitable as a main course?
The pizza wreath is so rich and filling that it can be served as a main dish or second course, accompanied by a fresh salad.
