Oat Flakes and Water Crepes

Today I want to give you a recipe for making crepes with oat flakes and water, dairy-free, flourless, and sugar-free, and if you buy gluten-free oat flakes, you will also get a gluten-free version. The recipe consists of only 2 ingredients and is prepared in just a few minutes. You can fill these crepes with either fruit or a spread or with vegetables, resulting in a savory version. But let’s see how they are prepared in the following recipe.

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very economical
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Portions: 4
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup oat flakes
  • 7/8 cup water

Tools

  • 1 Immersion blender

Steps

  • As mentioned, the preparation of these oat flakes crepes is super easy and quick. If you have a tall glass usually provided with an immersion blender, it will take you just a few minutes to prepare them. Pour the oat flakes into the narrow, tall container with the water and start blending the two ingredients until you get a sort of creamy mixture. There should be no lumps, so it will take a couple of minutes to achieve this consistency.

  • Once you have a smooth batter, heat a non-stick pan for a couple of minutes, pour about a ladleful of batter at a time, spread it with the concave part of a spoon until you get an even crepe, and let it cook for about 2-3 minutes, until the edges come off on their own, flip it gently and let it cook on the other side for a couple of minutes. Continue until you have made all the crepes. With this amount, you will get about 3 to 4 crepes of 10 inches.

If you want to make your crepes even more elastic, you can substitute the water with milk. I tried them with unsweetened almond milk, and they are perfect for a healthy and nutritious breakfast.
