Puff Pastry Carrots

Zero ideas for Easter appetizers? Here are Puff Pastry Carrots, ready in 10 minutes with just 3 ingredients. All you need is a roll of puff pastry, herbed cream cheese, and parsley—done. If you want to give them a slight orange tint, like I do, you can mix some food coloring into yellow and red with a little milk and brush them at the end, but now let’s see how to make these puff pastry carrots in the following recipe.

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very cheap
  • Rest time: 10 Minutes
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 8
  • Cooking methods: Electric oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Spring, Easter

Ingredients

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • 7 oz herbed cream cheese
  • to taste parsley
  • yellow and red food coloring (for brushing)
  • 1/4 cup milk (for brushing)

Tools

To form the puff pastry carrots, I used metal cones, but if you don’t have them, you can make cones with baking paper, the result will be the same.

Steps

Making puff pastry carrots is very easy. Start by brushing the steel cones with some oil; if you’re making cones with baking paper, this is not necessary.

Roll out the puff pastry and cut strips along the width.

Wrap each strip of puff pastry around the cone, starting from the bottom and moving upward.

Do the same with all the puff pastry cones and place them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.

  • At this point, mix 1/4 cup of milk with a pinch of red and yellow food coloring to obtain an orange color.

Now brush all your carrots and place in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 15 minutes.

Once ready, let them cool well and carefully detach the cones from the molds.

These molds have a “trick”; you need to apply slight pressure between two opposites towards the center so that the steel cone detaches from the pastry.

  • Now pour the cream cheese into a piping bag without a tip and fill your carrots.

Now wash the parsley and cut it into tufts.

Decorate each carrot with a tuft of parsley, and voilà, your puff pastry carrots are ready to be served. Quick, tasty, and impressive.

Saby advises…

The puff pastry carrots should be consumed immediately after preparation, otherwise the pastry will soften too much.
