Do you ever invite friends over for dinner and don’t want to make pizza, but you still crave it? Well, it happens to me, so I thought of preparing this rose pizza to present as an appetizer or aperitif, and I must say it’s perfect to start a lunch or dinner with friends and not only. The rose pizza is very reminiscent of savory cinnamon rolls and is very easy to make, especially if you use ready-made dough as I did, and the effect is always the same, “wow, what a great idea!!!”. So let’s see together how to prepare this rose pizza in the following recipe.

  • Difficulty: Very Easy
  • Cost: Very Cheap
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 10
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough roll
  • 7 oz seasoned tomato sauce
  • 7 oz mozzarella
  • 1.8 oz grated Parmesan cheese

Tools

  • 1 pizza cutter
  • 1 9-inch round baking pan

Steps

  • Begin preparing your rose pizza by grating the mozzarella and placing it in a colander. Then roll out the pizza base dough; if you’re using the classic rectangular shape, cut about 10 strips of dough, 1.5 cm from the base of the rectangle. Now pour the seasoned tomato sauce, spread half of the mozzarella over the entire base, and the grated Parmesan cheese.

  • Now roll each strip of dough over itself to form a rose or a swirl if you prefer. Repeat with all the dough strips. Once you have all the roses, place them next to each other to form a rose pizza. Then bake at 356°F (180°C) for about 20 minutes. After this time, pour the remaining mozzarella over the surface of your rose pizza and complete the cooking. Once ready, let it cool slightly and serve with a sweet sparkling wine for a fun and tasty aperitif.

NOTE: You can also roll out the dough, pour the sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan, roll the dough into a log, and then cut equal-sized swirls. But I honestly prefer the first method.
