Spiced Orange Bread

Today I want to introduce you to the Spiced Orange Bread, a fragrant and delicious dessert that smells like Christmas. The difference with the classic Orange Bread, whose recipe you can find HERE, is the combination of a mix of spices and aromas that evoke Christmas. I would immediately say that it is preferable to prepare the spices a few days in advance so that the fragrance is much more intense, but if you don’t have time, you can also add them as ingredients during the preparation of your Spiced Orange Bread. Let’s see together how to prepare it in the following recipe.

  • Difficulty: Very easy
  • Cost: Very economical
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 12
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Autumn, Winter, Christmas

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground anise
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1 pinch allspice (or black pepper)
  • 1 pinch clove
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 medium orange (organic)
  • 3 eggs
  • 7.76 oz sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.42 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 2.82 oz 50% dark chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • to taste Christmas sprinkles (optional)
  • 5 marzipan stars (optional or decorations of choice)

Steps

To prepare the Spiced Orange Bread, start by pouring all the spices into a bowl and mixing them well. If you have whole ingredients, I recommend grinding them finely in a mixer and then mixing them, then store the Christmas aromas in a well-cleaned and sterilized glass jar.

WARNING if you have time I recommend preparing this mix of Christmas aromas a few days in advance.

Preparation of Spiced Orange Bread

Start by washing the orange under boiling water for a few minutes, I still recommend using organic or untreated oranges, in any case wash them well under running water for a couple of minutes and rub the peel with your hands to remove any wax. At this point, dry and cut the orange with all the peel into 4-6 parts and pour it into a powerful mixer, I use the Monsieur Cuisine Plus, but the Thermomix is also fine.

RECIPES WITH ROBOT:

1. Pour the sliced orange with all the peel in the bowl 10 sec. speed 8
2. Pour the mixture into a bowl, rinse the bowl, dry it, and add the eggs with the sugar: 2 min. speed 4
3. Then add the blended orange, oil, flour, and spice mix: 40 sec. speed 4
5. Now add the baking powder: 10 sec. speed 5
6. Pour the batter into a greased mold and bake in a preheated oven at 338°F for about 35-40 min.
7. If the batter darkens too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil. Always do the toothpick test before taking it out of the oven.

Preparation WITHOUT ROBOT:
Start the classic preparation of your Orange Bread by washing the orange under hot running water, then dry well and cut into 4-6 pieces. Blend the orange with all the peel until you get a puree. Separately, beat the eggs with the sugar well for about 3-4 minutes. Then add the oil alternating with the flour and spice mix, sifted with the baking powder, and finally the blended orange. At this point, pour the batter into a greased pan and bake in a preheated oven at 338°F for about 35-40 minutes. If the cake darkens too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil and always do the toothpick test before taking it out of the oven. If the orange is particularly large, it may take a little longer.

When your Spiced Orange Bread is baked, gently remove it, melt the chocolate in a bain-marie, and add the butter, then pour the chocolate over your Orange Bread, let it warm and decorate with stars and Christmas sprinkles.

Your Spiced Orange Bread is ready to be enjoyed.
