Mars Cake

Who doesn’t know the Mars Cake?
I remember that when I was a child, it was never missing at any birthday party, and everyone loved it!!
One of the simplest and quickest cakes, with only three ingredients to combine and no baking required, just melted Mars bars, butter, and puffed rice. The recipe is still the one my mom used to make, and after many years, I wanted to prepare it myself.
The indulgence of this dessert? Undisputed 😍

The best part is that you can freeze it once cut into cubes and have a ready-to-use snack for the kids!

Shall we see how to prepare it?

  • Cost: Very economical
  • Rest time: 3 Hours
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 6-8
  • Cooking methods: Bain-marie
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Fall, Winter, and Spring

Ingredients

  • 6 Mars bars
  • 4 cups puffed rice (white or cocoa)
  • 4 tbsp butter

Steps

  • Prepare a cake pan lined with plastic wrap or parchment paper; I used a square one measuring 8×8 inches because I wanted to cut the cake into squares.

Cut the bars into pieces and melt them in a bain-marie together with the butter.

In a large bowl, pour the puffed rice and add the melted Mars bars, mixing well to distribute the cream evenly.

  • Pour into the pan and compact well, then refrigerate to firm up for 2-3 hours.

The Mars Cake is ready; if you like, you can also freeze it and have it always ready when needed.

👉 The Mars Cake can be kept at room temperature for 4-5 days, well covered with plastic wrap or foil; if it’s hot, I recommend keeping it in the refrigerator and letting it sit at room temperature for about half an hour before serving.
👉 You can also freeze it after cutting it into cubes, and once thawed, it will remain perfect.
