Keto diet breakfast with yogurt and hazelnuts

in

Today we prepare a breakfast for the keto or ketogenic diet, made with yogurt and hazelnuts. You can decide to make homemade kefir yogurt (here the full procedure and kefir grains), or you can comfortably opt for a full-fat Greek yogurt, or full-fat plain natural yogurt. The important thing is that it does not contain added sugar or fruit and that it is full-fat, precisely because on the keto diet fats are added to compensate for the lack of carbohydrates, so the body uses them as fuel (the whole process is called ketosis)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (full-fat or homemade kefir yogurt)
  • 1 1/3 tbsp hazelnuts

Tools

Preparation

  • To prepare the keto breakfast with yogurt and hazelnuts is very easy. Simply add 10 shelled hazelnuts (about 1 1/3 tbsp) to 1/2 cup (125 g) of yogurt. If you love the taste of coconut you can add a teaspoon of grated coconut, and if you like you can also sprinkle a little cinnamon. If you prefer to sweeten it, you can use erythritol zero calories and zero carbs, or stevia.

Regarding yogurt, if you decide to buy it ready-made at the supermarket, read the label carefully: choose a plain full-fat product (not low-fat, not fat-free, not reduced-fat, not with added fresh fruit, not with added flavors or chocolate). The best is full-fat Greek yogurt.

But if you prefer to make yogurt at home, because you’ve read somewhere that almost all supermarket yogurts have additives that are not ideal for a keto diet, that would be even better. The ideal would be to prepare this kefir yogurt with grains.
