Prepare the dough
In a bowl, place the flour, yeast, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the egg, butter, and milk, kneading until you get a soft and elastic dough. Transfer to the work surface and form a ball.
Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for about 1 hour or until doubled.
Prepare the filling
In a pan, put the diced apples, butter, add the sugar and cinnamon.
Let it cook for 5 minutes until they become soft and lightly caramelized.
Turn off the heat and add raisins and walnuts. Let it cool.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle of about 12×16 in.
Spread the apple, walnut, and raisin filling evenly.
Roll starting from the long side, seal well and cut into slices.
Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake in a static oven at 350°F for 25–30 minutes, until the rolls are golden and soft.
Mix the powdered sugar with rum and lemon juice until you get a smooth glaze.
When the rolls are warm, drizzle the glaze with a teaspoon.
Enjoy your meal!
You can prepare the rolls in advance and warm them up slightly before serving.
If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, replace rum with milk or orange juice.
They stay soft for 2-3 days in an airtight container, or you can freeze them already cooked.
