for about 30 cream puffs
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 7 tbsp butter
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 eggs
- salt
- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 9 oz mascarpone
- 1/4 cup sugar
- vanilla
- 7 oz dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup fresh heavy cream
- 1 1/2 tbsp butter
Tools
Large bowl → to prepare the choux pastry or mix the filling cream
Small saucepan → to heat water, milk, and butter for the cream puff dough
Hand whisk or electric whisk → to incorporate ingredients well
Silicone spatula → to mix and transfer the dough
Piping bag with round tip → to form the cream puffs and fill them
Baking sheet → lined with parchment paper for baking
Cooling rack → to cool the cream puffs after baking
Heatproof bowl → to melt the chocolate in a water bath
Spoon or fork → to dip the cream puffs in the glaze
Large serving plate or cake stand → to assemble the tree
Kitchen tweezers (optional) → to place the Christmas decorations precisely

Prepare the cream puffs (if not using ready-made ones)
Bring water, milk, butter, and salt to a boil.
Add the flour all at once and mix until the dough detaches from the sides of the pan.
Transfer to a bowl and let it warm slightly.
Incorporate the eggs one by one until you get a smooth and dense dough.
Form the cream puffs on a baking sheet with parchment paper (piping bag with round tip).
Bake in a static oven at 390°F for 10 min, then lower to 355°F for another 15-20 min.
Fill the cream puffs
Mix the cream, sugar, mascarpone, and vanilla and whip.
Using a piping bag, fill each cream puff with the cream.Prepare the coating
Melt the dark chocolate with the cream and butter in a water bath or microwave.
Mix until you get a smooth glaze.Assemble the profiteroles
Dip each cream puff in the glaze and arrange them in a pyramid on a serving plate, creating the shape of a Christmas tree.Decorate
