A delicious cake made in a simpler version using ladyfingers instead of sponge cake. The diplomat is a dessert that everyone agrees on when on the table, so for your Christmas dinners bring this cake to the table. A simple recipe that we can prepare in advance since it needs to rest for a day in the fridge! Two layers of puff pastry, two layers of cream, and one of ladyfingers soaked in alchermes, a wonder! Ingredients for the Fake Diplomat Cake:

  • 1 puff pastry
  • 1 kg custard
  • 20 ladyfingers
  • alchermes

Steps

The preparation of the Fake Diplomat Cake is very simple, watch the video HERE.

  • Unroll the puff pastry, prick it then cut it in half and bake it at 350°F for about 20 minutes. Once cooked and well-cooled, place the first piece.

  • Add a layer of cream (about half), spread and level it well. In a container, put the alchermes, a bit of water, soak the ladyfingers

  • place them on top in a row. Cover with another layer of cream. Then add the other puff pastry piece. Cover and place a weight on top. Put the cake in the fridge until the next day.

  • The next day, trim the edges and dust with powdered sugar.
